From My Daily Reading #15: Unique and Necessary

I Corinthians 12:12-27

You are made uniquely by God for a unique purpose!

Many Christians struggle with their place and purpose in life; and more specifically, in the church and in doing the will of God.

Believers often struggle in one of two areas when it comes to serving in the church.

Either, they don’t understand that as long as they have life in their lungs (no matter how young or how old) they have a purpose and a calling where they fit and in serving the Body of Christ, or they are not satisfied with the calling and purpose they have to carry out in the Body of Christ.

This is not a modern problem.  Paul dealt with the issue here in the Corinthian church in this passage of scripture.  So rest assured, if you fall into one of these two categories, you are not alone.

But God does have a place for you to fit in His kingdom.  He has a purpose and a plan for you life and the life of the local church.

Not everyone is called to be a teacher, pastor, or deacon.  (The positions that are often most visible.)

But no one is called to sit quietly by on the sideline.

As Christians we are all parts of the body and every part is unique and needed.  There are no parts that are more necessary than others. Just as there are no parts of the body that are not necessary.

Christian, find a church where you can be plugged in and connected.

Find a church where you can find the purpose that God has for you in His body.

God has given every Christians gifts and abilities that are to be developed and utilized for His glory.  And every one of those gifts and abilities are valuable and needed.

Understanding that you are unique and have a unique purpose along with utilizing the skills you are given for that purpose is key to finding satisfaction and peace in God’s will.

It is also key to running your race well.

It is also a key to one day hearing the words from our Father:

“Well done good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much, enter into the joy of your master.”
