That's a Wrap: Learning to Fully Follow the Lord

Exodus 39:1-7, and Chapters 39-40

When we read the instructions of God to Moses regarding the building and furnishing of the Tabernacle, we find very specific instructions. It took time for Moses to hear all of God's instructions so he could follow them fully. In Chapters 39-40 we see the continuing work of completing the temple including the clothes that the priests were to wear while in the tabernacle. In these chapters we find the phrase, "just as the Lord had commanded Moses" sixteen different times? Moses followed God's instructions precisely, and we can clean from Moses some keys to how we turn can follow the LORD fully.

  1. We Must Know God's Instructions - Before we can carry out God's instructions fully we must know them fully. God rarely gives us every step at once, but we must seek to know each instruction fully before we can follow fully. We Find His instructions for our lives today primarily through His Word; but He also speaks through His Spirit, and through His creation. Always remember that while God can and will use His Spirit, and His creation, (including His servants) they will always be in harmony with His Word. We also must be careful not to rush God, as hearing his instructions fully takes an investment of effort and time.

  2. We Must Trust God's Instructions - God's ways don't always make sense to us, but remember His ways are above our ways, His ways are always better than our ways, and His ways are always perfect and just. If we always thought the way He does, or if our ways were better, what would we need to look to Him for. Obeying His ways matter. We are not to lean to our own understanding but in all our ways trust Him and His ways and He will guide our path.

  3. We Must Carry Out His Instructions - What He has called us to do, He will see us through, and equip us for. Our circumstances are not always easy or desirable, but like Moses, God is training and equipping us through the journey in which he leads us. We are to trust his instructions, but also trust His training so that we can carry out His instructions, and involve others who have been trained for their part so that we can fully follow Him.
