It is often said that the world will pull you in million different directions if you let it; but that is a lie.
While it is true that the distractions and appeal of the world seems to pull you in various directions, the reality is that it only pulls you in one. Away from the Lord.
The Psalmist confesses the truth in verse two of this chapter: “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”
The reality is that all the good things we have in life come from God. No matter how appealing or strong the desires of the flesh may be, there is nothing good in what the world offers.
When we keep our eyes focused on the Lord, we find that gladness and joy flood our lives, and as we follow His leading, the distrations of what the world offers fades in our periphery.
The result is that while doing this, not only do we journey in a direction God is leading, but even the troubles on our journey do not overtake us because our Savior is near.
Which will lead us to declare as the psalmist does in verse eleven…
“…in your presence there is fulness of joy;”
